April 2026 - Author Event, Book Signing and Q&A (Sold Out)

Sara’s talk focussed on Reading and the Power of Community without giving away any spoilers. There were some lovely personal insights and humorous moments too, and Sara handled  the Q&A session very well.

“Thank you to everyone for organising this. It was a lovely way to spend an evening.”

May 2026 - Fourth Year Pupils, Workshop on Blood Red Sky, Empathy, Sympathy and Bravery (120 pupils)

It was interesting to see what the inspiration for the novel was. As a past pupil of the school, it made the whole experience of writing a book more relatable to our students. One would hope that students might think if Sara can do it, why can’t I? There were interesting insights into the youth justice system in Scotland too. Probably the most important message for the students was to be brave in whatever they might pursue in life. (Teacher)

‘I thought Sara was very funny and I liked how we could talk with our peers instead of speaking out loud.’ (Pupil)

‘It was very fun and very curious to hear the authors thought process. It was very interesting and Sara knew how to connect with us and the topic that interested us.’ (Pupil)

May 2026 - Author talk to Fifth Class, Aged 11, on The Life of an Author, sympathy, empathy and imagination (60 pupils)

‘Sara herself was so totally engaging. She has a great understanding of children and made the whole thing so interactive and fun. You could see that she had trained as a teacher because her ability to manage the crowd, engage the children and keep everyone busy was excellent. We have had a number of authors here in the past, but Sara's pre-teen/teen connection was exceptional. I love that she had tasks for the kids throughout and kept the talk humorous and lively - all the children and staff really enjoyed the event. A really positive experience for all involved.’ (Teacher & Librarian)
